Maries, Zakynthos Zante

The small picturesque village of Maries offers a lush landscape and an amazing view of the Ionian sea. It is famous for its church which was built in the fifteenth century and is dedicated to Mary Magdalene. Traditional stories tell that Mary Magdalene visited Maries in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. The village has 300 inhabitants, mainly engaged in agriculture. Maries village is located near the beautiful bay of Porto Vromi. In the summer months, boats sail from Porto Vromi to the famous Shipwreck beach. You can visit Maries by car.
